Power, voltage, and fit: what actually matters
We chose 1200W because that’s the thermal sweet spot most PET blowing machines expect. It hits preforms with enough radiant power to reach process temperature fast—without pushing your heater circuit too hard. And the 700mm length? That’s about full-zone coverage. You get even heat across the preform neck and body, so you’re not fighting hot and cold spots. One thing to get right before you order: voltage. These lamps typically come in standard options, often 230V or 240V. If the voltage doesn’t match, performance gets shaky and the lamp won’t last. Inside, a halogen capsule sits inside a quartz envelope. The halogen cycle helps keep the filament stable at high temperatures, which supports consistent output over the life of the lamp. Quartz handles the heat and takes the thermal shock of repeated heat-up and cool-down cycles without cracking. We use an R7s connector because it gives you a secure, two-contact fit in the machine socket—stable enough to carry a 1200W load without getting sloppy over time. The ceramic base and quartz body are made to keep going, cycle after cycle. You may notice the outer quartz has a coating. It’s there to shape the spectrum and keep more heat focused on the preform. That’s a practical trade: better heat retention for the job, but it also means the lamp surface runs hotter. So clearance and shielding are worth paying attention to.
