When we designed these 500W lamps at 450mm, we had one main goal: getting the heat to spread out evenly. Here’s the thing about heat—if you cram too much power into a short tube, you end up with “hot spots.” Those are the areas that get way too hot and ruin your work. By stretching that 500W across 450mm, we give you a much smoother, more consistent thermal spread. It’s a lifesaver when you’re heating a surface and can’t risk scorching it. Plus, because the lamp is longer, you can cover a bigger area in one go. The guts of the lamp Inside that quartz envelope is halogen gas. Now, that might sound technical, but all it really does is push tungsten back into the filament. It stops the filament from wearing thin too quickly. For you, that means the lamp lasts longer and the light stays a steady color. And since we use standard push-in connectors, swapping them out on the factory floor is fast and painless. You might notice some of our tubes have a coating. That’s there to bounce specific heat waves right onto your target. It’s a smart way to keep the lamp housing from getting too hot while putting the energy exactly where it needs to go. Where these actually live You’ll usually find these tucked into PET blowing machines, drying tunnels, or shrink-wrap lines. They heat up almost instantly. If you’ve ever used resistive coils, you know how long they take to get going. These are different. They’re fast. One big warning Here is the most important part:be careful with your hands. Quartz glass is finicky. If you touch the tube and leave a fingerprint or a smudge of oil, that spot creates a tiny, intense hot point. The glass will stress, crack, and the lamp will burn out way before its time. Do yourself a favor: grab some isopropyl alcohol and give the tube a quick wipe before you power it up. It takes ten seconds and saves you a lot of headache later.
