We fixed that with a halogen gas fill. It basically scrubs the tube clean as it works, so the lamp stays clear and the wattage stays steady. We also used quartz glass. Why? Because these things take a beating. You can flip the power on and off all day long and the glass won’t crack from the thermal shock. Just a heads-up: make sure your mounting brackets aren’t squeezing the glass too tight, or you’re asking for trouble. A few things to watch out for If you’re swapping out an old mid-sized IR heater, this should slide right in. But here’s the thing: 1500W is a lot of energy in a small space. Check your reflectors. If they’re warped or dusty, you’re basically throwing heat away. Also, be careful with your conveyor speed.
