We use a tungsten filament tucked inside a quartz envelope, then press it with halogen gas. Why? Because it stops the filament from evaporating, which means the lamp actually lasts. Getting the heat right We went with a 1200mm length for a reason. Spreading 1500W over that distance gives you a really smooth, controlled heat distribution. You won’t deal with those annoying hot spots that usually kill shorter, high-wattage tubes. It’s perfect for when you need a wide surface area heated evenly. Just a heads-up: don’t try to over-drive the voltage. If you do, you’ll burn out the filament. Stick to the 1500W rating and your lamp will keep humming along. What’s with the “Red Ruby” part? It’s not just for looks. That red tint is actually an interference coating on the quartz. Here’s the thing: it filters the infrared wavelengths so the heat is absorbed better by certain plastics and polymers. Plus, it cuts down on the glare and the heat bouncing back into your machine. It lets you hit your target temperature quickly without accidentally scorching the surface of whatever you’re working on. Putting it into your system Installation is pretty straightforward. These use standard linear connectors, so you can just drop them in and go. One quick tip: make sure your terminals are tight. Loose connections create arcs, and those will eat through your end caps in no time. And keep in mind, that ruby coating adds a little bit of thermal resistance. Because of that, the lamp runs a bit hotter on the inside than a clear tube would. Just make sure your cooling fans or heat sinks are up to the task of handling the extra warmth around the housing.
